Front Sight Training Offer

Several years ago I took a trip out to Las Vegas for a free macinegun course at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute.

Founder, Ignatius Piazza offered an impressive image of the future for the property and a vision for turning around public perception of the "gun culture."  Since then, there have been some arguments and rumors flying, but Piazza has kept on plugging with quality training, and innovative marketing and PR.

Front Sight's latest offer is a scheme to put them at the top of all of the search engines and greatly increase their visibility.  To accomplish this, they're offering a free training course for anyone who places the following links on their web site:

Are you an officer of a club or state association?  The Firearms Coalition is looking for organizations to affiliate with us.  There's no charge to the club.  We are a grassroots assistance organization.  We aren't the guys from Headquarters.  We know that the guys on the ground know best how to run tactics in their own state legislature, county board, or city hall.  We're here to help, not to direct.  Send a note to us via the Contact Us link.  Let's talk!

Publishing CCW Lists

Our friends at Buckeye Firearms Association, responding to the Sandusky Register publishing a list of Ohio CCW holders by publishing the personal information of the reporter under whose byline the story appeared.  Read about it at http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/article3823.html.  "What harm coul possibly come from publishing those lists?"  "Doesn't the public have a right to know?"  Well, there are examples of real harm.  We have to wonder where exactly the public interest crosses the line into intrusion.

NSSF: OSHA Rules Threaten Firearms Industry

This is from the National Shooting Sports Foundation.  This is only the latest attempt to attack firearms via the regulatory route.  The poster child of this tactic is the various attempts (the most recent that I'm aware of was in 1999) to put the Consumer Product Safety Commission in charge of firearms.

Proposed OSHA Regulation Threatens
Firearm and Ammunition Industry

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the government agency charged with assuring the safety and health of America's workers, is proposing a regulatory rule affecting the manufacturing, transportation and storage of small arms ammunition, primers and smokeless propellants. AZ Governor Vetoes Pro-Rights Bills

SB 1251, which would have strengthened the "public establishment or event" storage requirements that were passed last year and capped CCW permit fees at their current level, and SB 1166, which attempted to make it clear that the legislature intended to apply the 2006 "Castle Doctrine/Burden of Proof" legislation to all cases pending at the time it was signed, were vetoed by the Governor on July 2, 2007.  You can read her veto letters here:

UN-Helping Jamaica

(Manassas, VA, July 2, 2007)  The United Nations and the Jamaican government have announced plans for UN assistance to restore order and reduce the island nation’s sky-rocketing crime rates.  Violent crime, particularly “gun violence” has been growing steadily since the Jamaican government passed a complete ban on private possession and ownership of firearms in 1973.

Often criticized for exporting marijuana that feeds U.S. drug markets, Jamaicans are now criticizing the United States and other gun-producing nations for feeding their crime problems.

With the UN’s track record for nation building, it is likely that Jamaica
